The Wait is On

When it comes to canning, gardening and making ANYTHING from scratch my mother-in-law is a pro. With all of the veggies we have picked from our garden this summer she has inspired me to put it away so that we can benefit from it all winter. She helped me put up green beans a few weeks ago and has answered countless questions as I begin this new adventure! Although I hate spaghetti sauce, we have SO many tomatoes that I figured Dave would appreciate having some, and it can always be used for homemade pizzas, yum! Dave's parents are in Portugal right now but I figured that I could tackle this one on my own! I was left with detailed instructions and told to use their kitchen so I would have use of all the canning equipment and it apparently makes the house smell for about a week, so this way no one will have to live in it! THANK YOU :) I enlisted my mom's help and we began this task today! After a few rocky moments, google searches (does anyone know what a Victoria strainer is without looking it up?) and lots of laughs I think that we are on the right track. It is currently simmering, which takes 2-3 hours. My mom headed home, Addi is taking a nap and I am enjoying catching up on everyones blogs! Another plus to not being at my own house, I don't feel guilty for spending time on the computer when so many other things could be done during nap time! I'll let you know how it turns out.

That is really cool that your garden produced that much. And that you are able to do stuff with it. My garden didn't do very well this year. Maybe it will be better next year.
