We had a great Easter. With 9am church, the Easter bunny knew that it would be better if Addie & Cole found their Easter baskets later, but was nice enough to leave a trail of Easter eggs, along with an empty basket, from their beds to their new church clothes ;) I was a little nervous that they would miss it, or one would take all the eggs (even though there were 2 separate trails), but Addie showed up by our bed Easter morning with a big smile, a basket full of eggs and a trail still left for Colton! Once she knew what it lead to she was pretty excited for Cole to wake up and help him.

Our FHE lesson last week had been on why we celebrate Easter, and we also talked about it several times throughout the week. I had to laugh when on our way home from church Addie shouts from the backseat, "Mom & dad, I learned what Easter is really about in primary today! We have Easter because Jesus died for us and then came back to life for us" She then proceeded to show us the memory game her primary teacher had made for each child with different Christ centered Easter pictures and told me what each one meant. It was one of those moments where Dave and I just looked at each other and laughed and were very thankful for a primary teacher that could actually get what we had been trying to teach her all week to sink in.
Some friends invited us to lunch and an Easter egg hunt at their parents house, so after church we changed clothes and headed to lunch. We had a fun time and it turned out to be quite the hunt. And talk about generous parents, after the hunt the kids exchanged their eggs in for money! Each of my kids walked away with about $30.

After the hunt it was time to head home and find our own Easter baskets. This year the Easter bunny decided that it would be nice to give Addie & Cole one big present because they have a hard time picking up all their toys sometimes ;) Once they found their baskets (filled with some candy and a few pool toys) it was time to start the scavenger hunt. When they found their water table, Addie exclaimed, "Yeah Cole, but where's my present?" I guess that we've given our kids too much and our next item for the day was a lesson on what a gift is and being thankful.

Later that night we had some friends over for brownies & ice cream and let the kids enjoy the new water table!

It was a great day, I love celebrating holidays. I am so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and the sacrifice He made on my behalf. I'm thankful for the knowledge of the gospel and the Plan of Salvation and that besides colored eggs and bunnies I have something much more important to share with my kids on why we celebrate this day.
